Adaptation for the stage of the short film Will you marry me?

That sound of the wedding flute, that plaintive melody, are they real or has he dreamed them? An Adam of today lapses into an archaic state and experiences an anguished dejà vú: having soffocated HER in a tremendous embrace. At the light of a new day he will find his identity again.
LACRIME ANTICHE tells about the devided Androgyne, the One we once were and who leads us to other mythological couples and their archetypes: Adam and Lilith, Amor and Psyche, Daphne and Phoebus.

Synopsis

The theatre of compagnia NUT is dance as narrative, elegant with no special effects. The choreografic research is based on an emotional subtext. The piece is entrusted to the power of the dancers, to a light that uncovers deep emotions and, to a great extent, to the original music. The scene opens with a divan in a moonlight atmosphere and the awakening of a woman: a delicate "White Bird" who feels along the bounders of her nest. A man appears, maybe her husband, and the divan shrinks to "Dafne´s Cage". An unbalanced relationship between the couple, subjugated to the exclusive will of the man. Lacrime Antiche ("Ancient Tears"), marriage between strangers, imprisonment of woman.
In the scene of the "Nightmare" - in the depth of his consciousness - the man hides and discovers guilt. He is frightened at first and flees in a violent attempt to dominate HER, to the point of nearly killing her on a flaming "Red Divan". Exhausted by his efforts to dominate, the man "Traveller of the Night" begs for his salvation remembering the White Bird. He awakes by the side of the woman. Shy, with a changed light in his eyes, in the call of a faraway music he tries again: a "Running together" into infinity.

Along a canal in a desolate, winterly Venice a man runs after a woman whom he has maybe only dreamed of. Breathlessness, a flight, a search – the running of both in the echo of cobblestones.
